The Panorama School Board met in regular session on Aug. 12. One of the issues discussed was meal prices.
“A school’s nutrition fund should be self-sufficient, meaning the money that comes in is what we have to work with,” Superintendent Kasey Huebner said. “Our nutrition fund revenue has decreased by around $100,000 in the last few years, so it is necessary to adjust our prices to ensure our nutrition department can fund itself. This last year, we’ve had to loan money out of general fund money to support nutrition salaries, as revenue wasn’t where we needed it to be.”
The board approved the following meal prices for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Student Lunch – $3.50
- Student Breakfast – $2.25
- Adult Lunch – $5.10
- Adult Breakfast – $2.85.
The board approved the milk bid from Anderson Erickson (AE).
The following list of spring/summer extracurricular contracts was approved:
- Ammy Webster – Junior Class Sponsor
- Ben McDaniel – High School Assistant Wrestling Coach
- Laci Rishel – Junior High Girls Basketball Coach
- Jauclyn Curry – Full Time Para – Elementary
- Carla Church – High School Spec Ed
- Jeremy King – adjustment from May contract – .5 FTE to 1 FTE Football Coach
- Bryce Olive – .5 FT Football Coach
- Dave Simmons – Head Custodian/Maintenance
- Dean Lyons – High School Boys Assistant Basketball
- Shannon Kepple – Junior High Boys Basketball
The board discussed and approved a proposed change regarding vacation payout. The change stipulates that when a full-time, noncertified employee resigns, the vacation leave payout will be prorated instead of being paid out in full. This means that if an employee works 10% of the year, he or she will receive 10% of the vacation pay since it regenerates to 100% each fiscal year.
The next regular meeting of the school board will be Monday, Sept. 9. The board also set a Facility Work Session for Sept. 18 to discuss the district’s future facility needs.
The public is welcome at all meetings other than special closed meetings.
