Special to the Times Vedette

The Adair Women’s Club met at the Adair Library on Oct. 29. Members brought candy and Halloween toys to put together treat bags for Halloween. They will be passed out from Patsy Wood’s driveway on Saturday, Oct. 31, from 4-6 p.m.

The meeting began with a program presented by Darrin Plowman about his business, Plowman Earthmoving. He told about the history of the business, the growth, the changes and the impact of technology. He was accompanied by his wife, Julie.

The business meeting was called to order by co-president Linda Hemminger The Pledge was recited. Ten members answered the roll call topic, “Favorite fall activity or memory.” Pat Pettinger gave the secretary’s and treasurer’s reports. Two of our Festival of Trees scholarship recipients have received their scholarships: Leaya Klemish and Savannah Akers.

A  sheet for our November guest night was passed around so members could sign up for what they’ll bring to the potluck. The committee of Sharon Anderson and Pat Pettinger will furnish drinks, napkins and table decorations. Featured speaker will be Cale McClain, presenting  a program on his military service.

Members were reminded to buy items for Little Smiles Daycare for our Festival of Trees entry. Pat will resend their wish list. Members volunteered to put posters in surrounding towns to advertise the event.

It was decided to leave the flowers and pumpkins in the planters until replacing them with the wreaths and snowflakes for winter.

The meeting was adjourned, and lunch was served by hostess Jan Mueller.
