ACGC ties the school record for state qualifiers with six: Gavin Sloss (126), Ryder Cline (144), Angel Martinez (165), Jackson Pfrang (175), Carter Richter (190) and Jack Sheeder (285).

The ACGC boys wrestling team competed at the IHSAA 1A District 9 tournament at South Hamilton on Saturday, Feb. 15. Six Charger wrestlers qualified for the state tournament by placing first or second in their respective weight classes. For the second year in a row, ACGC ties the school record for state qualifiers with six: Gavin Sloss (126), Ryder Cline (144), Angel Martinez (165), Jackson Pfrang (175), Carter Richter (190) and Jack Sheeder (285). Three wrestlers did so by becoming district champions. Cline, by defeating Aiden Hellman of Don Bosco. Pfrang, by defeating Cooper Nattress of South Central Calhoun. Sheeder, by defeating Jace Pedersen of South Central Calhoun. Gavin Sloss won the second-place match over Drayke Dvorak of North Tama. Sloss hit 150 career wins at the tournament. Angel Martinez won the second-place match over Hayden Stickrod of South Central Calhoun. Carter Richter won the second-place match over Mason Anderson of Manson Northwest Webster. The 1A first round begins on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at 1:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. The tournament will go through Saturday, Feb. 22.
