The Charger football team hit the gridiron for the first time this season at Ogden Aug. 30 and commanded the game throughout, winning 40-0. The Chargers scored 33 of their 40 points in the first half with 13 in the first quarter and 20 in the second. Another 7 points in the third quarter rounded out their scoring. Quarterback Jathan South had a hand in all six touchdowns, three by air and three rushing. He completed all five of his pass attempts for 129 yards and rushed for 137 of the team’s total 402 yards on the ground. Payton Policky led in receiving yards with 55 yards on two receptions, with one of those a touchdown. Xander Harwood led in tackles with 8.5 and tackles for loss with 1.5. The defense kept Ogden out of the endzone, netting 34.5 tackles and 6.5 of those for a loss, as well as a fumble recovery and an interception. The Chargers made four of their six point after touchdown attempts. ACGC (1-0) will face Earlham (1-0) at home on Friday, Sept. 6.
