On Thursday, May 9, the ACGC girls track and field team traveled to Earlham to compete in the 1A state qualifier. The Chargers totaled 67 points on the day. Host Earlham won the meet with 112 points.
Those who finished in first place at the meet gained automatic qualification to the state meet. Ava Campbell will be heading to Des Moines later this month for her first-place finishes in the 800- and 1500-meter runs. The distance medley team finished first as well.
Other ACGC athletes can still join Campbell and the distance medley squad when the final results are available on IHSAA’s website, www.iahsaa.org.
According to the IHSAA, “In Class 1A, the top place winner in each event plus the next fourteen best performances statewide from qualifying meet place winners will advance to the state meet. If there are ties, the highest qualifying meet place winner (1st – 8th) will be the qualifier.”
