ACGC (0-5) played a pair of games at home against WCAC baseball opponent Earlham (5-2) on Thursday, May 30.
Game 1
A late rally from Earlham was enough to beat the Chargers in the first game of the double header. ACGC went into the bottom of the fifth inning up 2-1, but a three-run bottom half gave Earlham a lead it wouldn’t surrender, eventually winning, 5-2. Hits were a hot commodity, with the only RBI coming from Jackson Pfrang. Tommy Skram and Blaize Dorsey split time on the mound. Dorsey struck out six batters in his four and two-thirds innings pitching. Skram struck out three in his two innings, keeping his opponents’ batting average to .143.
Game 2
While hits were hard to come by in the first game, the second leg was a different story. The 13-6 scoreline saw the majority of runs scored in the later portion of the game. Once again, ACGC was leading late, up 5-1 heading into the top of the sixth, until Earlham’s bats finally woke up. Earlham scored seven runs in the sixth inning and five in the seventh. RBIs came from Tegan Slaybaugh and Jackson Pfrang, both with two. ACGC mainly got on base by standing strong in the box. They were hit by pitches five times and were walked eight times. That’s double the amount of hits they recorded. Colton Clark saw the most time on the bump, pitching four and one third inning. He recorded six strikeouts and gave up seven hits.
ACGCs next game is against Panorama (1-6) away from home on Monday, June 3.
