ACGC baseball (2-3) picked up two wins since Friday, May 30, when the Chargers defeated Exira-EHK (0-3), 4-0. The second win came on Monday, June 2 at Ogden (3-5).
Game one
ACGC shutout Exira-EHK, picking up its four runs in batches of twos. Two in the third and two in the fifth. Tommy Skram and Taytum Bates scored two runs apiece. Skram’s one hit was a triple; he also had one RBI and stole three bases. Noah Kading provided the team’s other RBI, but his main impact was felt on the mound. In his six innings pitched, Kading struck out 15 batters and only allowed three hits.
Game two
ACGC followed up that defensive victory with a win spearheaded by its offense, beating Ogden, 13-6. ACGC came out of the gate strong, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Ogden tied the game, 3-3, in the third inning. ACGC exploded for six more runs in the fifth and four more in the seventh to give the Chargers plenty of cushion. ACGC had nine hits total, all singles. Jackson Pfrang led in RBIs with three. Tommy Skram and William Skram each had two RBIs. Chase Slaybaugh, Ben Franzeen, Taytum Bates and Blaize Dorsey had one RBI each. In addition to his two RBIS, Skram picked up the win on the mound. He pitched four and one third innings with six strike outs. Colton Clark picked up the other two and two thirds innings, striking out four batters, allowing one hit.
ACGC hosts West Central Valley (2-3) today, Tuesday, June 3. The Chargers will look to continue their early season winning streak against a Wildcat team they split the season series against last year. West Central Valley won the first meeting, 10-5. ACGC took the second game, 5-2.
