The ACGC girls track and field team scored 70 points at the Panorama Coed Invite on Thursday, May 8. The team broke two ACGC records at the competition. Ava Campbell won gold and set the 400-meter dash record in 1:01.67. This breaks the record set by Sara Schmelling in 2017. The individual school records of AC and GC are still intact. AC (59.80) set by Carolyn Wedemeyer in 1971; GC (59.28) set by Jessica Lewis in 1995. This comes after the distance medley team of Nora Langgaard, Meranda Gruber, Cadence Petersen and Campbell broke the ACGC record (4:16.35) at the WCAC meet on Tuesday, May 6. The previous record (4:20.71) was set by Mady Smith, Savanna Fuller, Sara Schmeling and Kate Crawford in 2018. This time was better than both AC (4:28.30) and GC (4:19.57) records.

Besides Campbell’s gold in the 400-meter dash, she also won the 1,500-meter run, and Cadence Petersen won gold in the high jump. Meranda Gruber won silver in the 200-meter dash, as did the 800-meter sprint medley team. The 4×400-meter relay team and the distance medley team won bronze. The next meet for the girls is the 1A state qualifying meet at Madrid on Thursday, May 15. ACGC will compete against 13 other teams.
