Cooper competes at state tournament today

The IHSAA boys state wrestling tournament began on Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Five Panorama wrestlers qualified: Landon Kirtley (138), Will Knapp (150), Gabe Wagner (157), Blake Schwartz (165) and Joel Cooper (285). Besides Cooper, the other Panorama boys’ seasons have ended in the consolation bracket. Cooper wrestles Jacob Bishop of Hinton today and can still finish as high as third. 1A third round consolation matches begin at 1:30 p.m. Tickets for the state meet are available for purchase HERE. Championship first round:

Kirtley lost to Treven Delagardelle of Jesup, 20-3

Consolation second round:

Kirtley lost to Landon Price of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, 4-0

WILL KNAPP (150)

Championship first round:

Knapp lost to Lincoln Leven of Central Springs, 9-8

Consolation second round:

Knapp won over Isaiah Malm of Graettinger-Terril/Ruthven-Ayrshire, 9-2

Consolation third round:

Knapp lost to Jase Tommasin of Starmont, 10-6

GABE WAGNER (157)

Championship first round:

Wagner lost to Isaac Messamaker of Moravia, 9-8

Consolation second round:

Wagner won over Graham Godsey of Bedford, 10-0

Consolation third round:

Wagner lost to Conner Jacobsen of Ridge View, 3-0

BLAKE SCHWARTZ (165)

Championship first round:

Schwartz lost to Mason Allen of Central Decatur, 6-3

Consolation second round:

Schwartz lost to Hunter Sauer of Alburnett, 12-2

Consolation second round:
