Panorama girls wrestling will make the trip to Red Oak High School today, Friday, Jan. 31, to compete in the IGHSAU 1A Regional competition. Panorama will battle with 17 other schools.
According to the IGHSAU, “The top 16 qualifiers from each weight class will qualify for the 2025 Girls State Wrestling Tournament, which will be held Feb. 6-7 in Xtream Arena in Coralville.”
The seeding for the state tournament will be done using a computerized system using Track Wrestling with oversight by the IGHSAU. The criteria used by Track Wrestling to determine seeds gives points to qualifiers based on the following factors, listed in order of their use, and in comparison to every other wrestler in that bracket:
- Head-to-head competition
- Competition against common opponents
- Returning state champion
- Returning second- or third-place finisher in previous season (equal value)
- Returning fourth- through eighth-place finisher from previous season (valued in order)
- Regional Place
- Returning state qualifier in previous season
- Winning percentage in the current season
