On Tuesday, May 9, the Panorama girls track and field team competed in Earlham with hopes of qualifying for the state meet at Drake Stadium May 16-18. As a team, the Panthers finished in third place with 97 points. Host Earlham won the meet with 112. To little surprise, Jaidyn Sellers was an automatic qualifier for several events. Thanks to four first-place finishes, Sellers will head to state to compete in the high jump, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes. When the final results from across the state are posted, Sellers will find out who will be joining her on the blue track in Des Moines later this month.

Once they’re available, results will be posted on IHSAA’s website, www.iahsaa.org.

According to the IHSAA, “In Class 1A, the top place winner in each event plus the next 14 best performances statewide from qualifying meet place winners will advance to the state meet. If there are ties, the highest qualifying meet place winner (1st – 8th) will be the qualifier.”
