Poldberg and Dawes compete on day 1 of state championships, set personal records

Braylon Dawes and Noah Poldberg traveled to Drake Stadium to compete in the Iowa High School Track and Field Championships on Thursday, May 16. Both athletes set personal records while on the blue track.

Competing in the 400-meter dash, Dawes placed 15^th with a time of 51.29. Poldberg placed 13^th in the 3200-meter run. Poldberg and Dawes still have a chance to find the podium on Saturday: Poldberg in the 1600-meter run, and Dawes as part of the boys sprint medley team alongside Hunter Kempf, Ryan Cogil and Ashton Hutchins.

“We were thrilled for these two to have the opportunity to run at the state meet, and they both took advantage and ran the best races of their careers. Both have worked extremely hard and earned the opportunity to run against, and be included as part of, the best in the state. Even better than their performance yesterday is the fact that they each get to continue that momentum and run another race tomorrow,” Head Coach Bruce Dahlhauser said.
