Tegan Slaybaugh (120), Gavin Sloss (126), Ryder Cline (144), Michael Fuller (190), Carter Richter (215) and Payton Jacobe (285) all competed at the IHSAA state wrestling championships this week.

Slaybaugh (120) had a first-round bye before facing Sam Egan of Sumner-Fredericksburg in the second round. Slaybaugh defeated Egan, 13-5. He then faced Eli Becerra of Missouri Valley, where Slaybaugh won, 3-0. Slaybaugh will face No. 1 seed Rowdy Neighbor of Alburnett today in the semi-finals.

Sloss (126) lost his first-round match against Brock Morris of Cascade, 2-0. He then lost in the second round of the consolation bracket in a close one against Liam Stockberger of Central Springs, 6-5.

Cline (144) lost his first-round bout against Lucas Bose of Underwood, 4-0. Cline then lost in the second round of the consolation bracket against Jaxon Gordon of Riverside, Oakland, 9-1.

Fuller (190) was defeated in the first round against Hayden Heun of Underwood, 4-0. Fuller faced off against Bryce Wiskus of Kuemper Catholic in the second round of the consolation bracket, losing 2-0.

Richter (215) lost in overtime in the first round against Grant Henderson of Sumner-Fredericksburg, 7-5. Richter would then lose by fall in the consolation bracket against Henry Lund of AHSTW.

Jacobe (285) had a bye in the first round and then defeated Joel Cooper of Panorama in the second round, 5-2, advancing to face Code Fox of East Buchanan. Jacobe ended the first period up 4-1 but would ultimately lose the match, 5-4. Jacobe can still finish as high as third. He will face Jonah Reiling of Lisbon in the consolation bracket Friday.
