Panorama girls struggle on the links

The Panorama girls golf team came in third at home April 23. Pleasantville, 217, captured the triangular with Ogden close behind with 219 and Panorama trailing with 255. Low scores for individual girls were not available.

The girls faced another loss, finishing fourth on April 25 at Woodward at the WG Girls Invitational. ADM captured the meet with a score of 388, followed by Ogden, 422; Ballard, 474; and Panorama, 483.

The girls will play next April 29, 9 a.m., at Pleasantville Golf and Country Club against nine other teams.

The Panorama boys golf team took first place at the April 23 home meet against Pleasantville and Ogden with a score of 166, well above Pleasantville, 178, and Ogden, 209.

The boys again captured first on April 25 in a quadrangular at Coon Rapids with a score of  311, followed by Coon Rapids-Bayard, 330; Woodward-Granger, 350, and ACGC, 383.

Panorama Secondary School Job Fair hosts 18 organizations

The Panorama Secondary School Job Fair was held on April 25 at the high school and hosted 18 area organizations with representatives who time to meet with Panorama students grades 6-12, who were exposed to local career opportunities. The purpose of this annual event is to encourage summer employment for students returning to school next year and give emerging graduates employment options to consider in proximity to Guthrie County. The following professionals contributed to the job fair: Agriland FS, Care Initiatives, Iowa National Guard, Karl Chevrolet, La’James International College, Lakeside Village, Landus, Little Panther Daycare, McAninch Corp. (excavator simulator), McDonald’s, Panora Fiber, Panora Daycare, Pedal-In Restaurant, Iowa Trenchless, Midwest Vac Professionals, West Central Tree Service, Wood Duck Landscapes, and Van Wall John Deere.

Sellers wins gold in high jump at Drake Relays

Panorama High School senior Jaidyn Sellers placed first in the girls high jump in the high school division at the Drake Relays on Thursday.  She jumped 5 feet, 7 inches on her second attempt, which tied her with Sydney Maue of Mt. Vernon who did the same on her third attempt. As a result, Sellers won the tie-breaker.  Ankeny junior Reagan Hanfelt placed third, jumping 5 feet, 5 inches on her first try.

Guthrie County Extension holds STEM workshop about creating seed bombs

The Guthrie County Extension held a STEM workshop about creating seed bombs on Monday, April 15 at the Mary J Barnett Memorial Library.
