First Panora Square Market is Saturday

The first Panora Square Market will be this Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Panora City Square. Look for farm fresh products, baked goods, art, crafts, flowers and more. Organizers encourage attendees to come for the market but stay in town for a while. Grab something to drink and check out all the great shops on the square and in town.  Additional dates include:

Sheriff’s Office reports May revenues of $22,420 for processing of out-of-county inmates

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office reported incoming revenue of $22,420 from the processing of out-of-county inmates at the jail during May. A total of 63 inmates were processed through the facility during the month including 28 from out of the county, including a female who was held for 24 days who paid for her jail stay on a Pottawattamie sentence.

  • Adair County had one inmate for 10 days with charges of $600.
  • The Department of Corrections had two inmates for eight days with charges of $400
  • Greene County had seven inmates for 154 days with charges of $9,240
  • Polk County had 14 inmates for 118 days with $7,080
  • Webster County had three inmates for 61 days with $3,660

Vogl, Michaelson, Tunink on Iowa Lakes Honors Lists

Iowa Lakes Community College is celebrating the students on the Spring 2024 Honors Lists, recognizing their outstanding academic achievements. This semester, 131 students have earned the prestigious President’s List honor, and 242 students have been named to the Dean’s List.

The President’s List distinction showcases students with unwavering commitment and academic brilliance who achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA while enrolled full-time and completing 12 or more graded credits.

The Dean’s List focuses on students with a GPA of 3.25 or higher who maintain full-time enrollment status and have at least 12 graded credits.

Guthrie Center Lions Club centennial celebration June 10

The Guthrie Center Lions Club, founded in June 1924, will hold its 100th-anniversary celebration on Monday, June 10 at the Guthrie County Events Center at the Guthrie County Fairgrounds.

The Guthrie Center Lions Club has thrived for a century, embodying the spirit of service. To mark this historic occasion, the Club is organizing a dinner and program event, inviting community members, supporters and well-wishers to join in the celebration.

In a testament to their ongoing commitment to community service, the Guthrie Center Lions Club has chosen the Little Charger Early Learning Center as the focus of their centennial celebration. As part of the festivities, the Club aims to raise funds to support the construction of the center’s kitchen facilities.

Community members are encouraged to save the date and participate in this historic celebration. Tickets for the event will be available this spring and can be purchased from local Lions Club members.
