ACGC boys golf season ends at districts

The ACGC boys golf team shot a 383 at the 1A Sectional meet at Greenfield Country Club on Wednesday, May 14. CAM, Woodbine and Riverside Oakland advance to districts. Sayer Bireline-Huss shot the best 18-hole round for the Chargers, an 86.

ACGC is qualifying meet champ for third year in a row, sends 5 automatic qualifiers to state

The ACGC boys track and field team won the 1A state qualifying meet in Madrid on Thursday, May 15. ACGC scored 125 points. The next closest team was South Hamilton with 107 points. With a conference state qualifying championship under their belts, the Charger boys look to do damage at the state meet. In 1A, first place qualifies for the state meet. Brexton Schneider in the 110-meter hurdles, Tate Fever in the 400-meter hurdles, the 4×100-meter, 4×110-meter shuttle hurdle and 4×400-meter relay teams all won gold, guaranteeing their spot on the blue track in Des Moines. The rest of the state qualifiers are at-large bids to be announced later. Other ACGC athletes to place in the top three were Fever in the 110-meter hurdles, Eli Madsen in the 400-meter, and Mike Fuller in discus and the sprint medley relay team, who won silver. Gavin Sloss in the 800-meter run and the 4×200-meter relay team won bronze. The state meet is May 22-24 at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.

Charger girls place 7th at state qualifying meet, automatically qualify for 3 events

The ACGC girls track and field team scored 58 points at the 1A state qualifying meet in Madrid on Thursday, May 15. Host Madrid won the meet with 144 points. First place earns a guaranteed spot at the state meet. ACGC won three events. Ava Campbell won two as an individual — the 800-meter and 1,500-meter runs. The distance medley team of Nora Langgaard, Meranda Gruber, Cadence Petersen and Campbell also won their event, automatically sending them to the state meet. Petersen also won bronze in the 400-meter hurdles. At-large bids will be announced later. The state meet is at Drake Stadium in Des Moines May 22-24.

Panorama girls place 3rd at Panorama Invite, competes in first round of Regionals today

The Panorama girls golf team shot 232 at the Panorama invite on Tuesday, May 13. Des Moines Christian won the meet, shooting 181, and their Courtney Latham was the medalist, shooting a 39. The best Panorama score came from the clubs of Paula Lopez, who shot a 55. The Panthers turn their attention to the first round of regionals today, Friday, May 16, at Dunlap Golf Club. Other teams at the meet will be ACGC, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Earlham, IKM-Manning and Riverside.

The Panorama boys golf team shot a 324 at the IHSAA 2A Sectional qualifier meet at East Sac County Country Club on Wednesday, May 14. Parker Cary shot the best 18-hole score for Panorama, a 75. Kuemper Catholic won the meet shooting 301. South Central Calhoun placed second, shooting a 316. These three teams advance to the district meet at Carroll National Golf Club on Monday, May 19. Kuemper Catholic will be the host.
