Impala hits deer on White Pole Road

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Taylor Wheatley reported car vs. deer collision occurring on June 11 at 9:28 p.m. on White Pole Road.  Shyann Rae Young, 18, of Adair, was driving a 2013 Chevrolet Impala LPT and struck a deer, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage to the vehicle.  The driver was not injured. 

Subaru collides with ditch on Frontier Road

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Taylor Wheatley reported a single-vehicle accident occurring on June 14 at 8:52 a.m. on Frontier Road. Richard Alan Holbrook II, 34, of Yale, was driving a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT southbound in the 3200 block of Frontier Road in rural Guthrie County and lost control of the vehicle and collided with the ditch. He was transported by Adair EMS to the Guthrie County Hospital  and treated for injuries. Holbrook told the deputy he was on his cell phone texting and also admitted to drinking the night before.  Deputy Wheately executed a search warrant for the withdrawal of the driver’s blood for chemical testing.  Holbrook received citations for failure to maintain control and use electronic communication device – AG.  Estimated damage to the Subaru is $5,000.

ACGC boys track receives IATC All-State honors

After their runner-up performance at the IHSAA State Track and Field Championships, several ACGC athletes were awarded Iowa Track Coach’s Association All State honors. Head Coach Cody Matthewson was named At-Large 1A Coach of the Year; Tate Fever in the 400-meter high hurdles; Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Luke Brincks, Eli Madsen in the 4×100-meter relay;  Luke Brincks, Dean Vela, Tate Fever, Eli Madsen in the 4×400-meter relay; Morgun Nolte, Tate Fever, Tommy Skram, Brexton Schneider in the Shuttle Hurdle Relay; and Joe Crawford, Brexton Schneider, Luke Brincks, Eli Madsen in the Sprint Medley Relay.
