Chargers drop doubleheader games to I-35, 10-0, 8-0

The ACGC softball team (1-11) competed in a doubleheader against I-35 (8-6) on Thursday, June 12. Individual stats for ACGC were not available as of press time. The Chargers play a double header at WCAC foe Panorama on Monday, June 16.

Chargers lose close battle with Glidden-Ralston, 6-3

The ACGC softball team hosted Glidden-Ralston (5-1) on Wednesday, June 11. Neither squad recorded a run until the fifth inning when both teams scored three. Glidden-Ralston scored three more in the sixth inning, putting the game out of reach for the Chargers. Despite the loss, the big win over Madrid earlier in the week, and a close contest against a well above .500 Wildcat squad, signs are pointing in the right direction for ACGC. Olivia Mahaffey led the team in RBIs with two. Karli Kautzky knocked in the team’s other run. Runs were scored by Kailee Kautzky, Belle Fagan and Mahaffey. Caydence Boals and Fagan each had a stolen base. Camdyn Richter spent all seven innings on the mound. She had three strikeouts and gave up one earned run in the start.

Chargers secure first win of the season against Madrid, 11-2

The ACGC softball team (1-8) had its best offensive performance of the season and its first win of the season at Madrid (3-8) on Tuesday, June 10. The Chargers scored runs in five of the six innings played. Camdyn Richter and Kailee Kautzky each had two RBIs. Kailee Kautzky led the team in hits, with three, including a double. Caydence Boals, Richter, Savannah Akers and Kailee Kautzky each scored two runs. Karli Kautzky, Jacie Baker and Paige Van Meter each scored one. The Chargers totaled eight steals. Boals and Kailee Kautzky had two each. Baker, Van Meter, Trinity Calhoun and Akers had one apiece. Jayla Hoover spent all six innings on the bump. She had one strikeout with only one earned run.

ACGC falters in doubleheader with I-35, 13-2 and 12-2

The ACGC baseball team (5-6-1) traveled to I-35 (13-3) on Thursday, June 12. ACGC’s two runs in game one were scored by Payton Policky and Taytum Bates. Noah Kading and Jackson Pfrang split time on the mound. Kading struck out one batter. Pfrang had four strikeouts in his one and two-third innings. Game two saw similar struggles. Runs were scored by William Skram and Chase Slaybaugh. Ben Franzeen recorded an RBI. ACGC used its bullpen in game two, getting innings from Cal Clark, Payton Policky, Joe Fagan and Tommy Skram. ACGC makes the short trip to Panorama (3-9) for a doubleheader on Monday, June 16.

ACGC defeats Glidden-Ralston, 8-3

Make that back-to-back wins for ACGC (5-4-1). The Chargers hosted and defeated Glidden-Ralston (3-6) on Wednesday, June 11. ACGC led, 3-2, heading into the bottom of the sixth inning. ACGC scored four runs, giving them the space to close out the game, handing the Chargers their fifth win in seven games. Tommy Skram’s bat stayed hot, recording a team-high two RBIs on one hit and three walks. Tommy Skram also stole three bases. William Skram and Chase Slaybaugh each had one RBI. Xander Harwood was the lone Charger with multiple hits, two singles. Slaybaugh and Taytum Bates also stole a base. Franzeen was excellent for ACGC on the mound, recording the win. He pitched all seven innings, striking out eight batters and only allowing two hits.
