Guthrie County Health Services to hold grand opening

On Tuesday, June 10, Guthrie County Health Services will hold a grand opening at its newly remodeled location, 2002 State St. in Guthrie Center (next to Incredi-Bowl). The event will be from 1-3 p.m. with a special program at 1:30 p.m.

Farmers markets begin June 7

Again this year, the Panora and Guthrie Center farmers markets will alternate weeks, meaning that each Saturday from June 7 through Sept. 20, shoppers can easily find local produce. The season kicks off on Saturday, June 7 at the Panora farmers market (held every other week at the Guthrie County Historical Village, 206 W. South St.). Hours will be 9 to noon.

On the opposite Saturdays, beginning June 14, the Guthrie Center farmers market will run from 9-11 a.m. in downtown Guthrie Center.

Early Bird Special for Midwest Partnership’s 30th Annual Golf Outing ends June 6

Midwest Partnership will hold its 30th Annual Golf Outing on Friday, June 27 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course with tee-off time at 10 a.m. Check-in starts at 9 a.m. Awards at 3 p.m. 

Early bird pricing of $400/team or $100/person ends June 6. Registrations will also be entered into a drawing to win a free golf game for four at Lake Panorama National Golf Course. Participation supports ongoing regional development and business growth initiatives.

Cribbage results from June 4

On June 4, a total of 14 players participated. Wayne Nickel got a 17 and a 24. Bill Ebby, Dick Ellis, Dave Kading, Kathy Mahoney and Dan Webb each got a 16. Allen Pierce got a 16 and a 20 20, and Rhonda Titus got a 21. 

The Guthrie Center cribbage players generally meet at Guthrie Center Library on Mondays at 8 a.m. and at the New Homestead independent living dining hall at 8 a.m. on Wednesdays and at 1 p.m. on Fridays. Organizers say there is always room for more, and they will be glad to teach you how to play. They play for quarters on Wednesday and Friday.

Hit and run accident in Guthrie Center

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Blake Michelsen reported a hit and run collision occurring on June 2 around 8:09 a.m. on the 400 block of Grand Street in Guthrie Center. A 2019 Ford Escape was hit with estimated damage of $2,500. With video surveillance and damage present, law enforcement is still investigating the incident.
