StoryWalk grand opening event Aug. 19

The StoryWalk grand opening event will be held Tuesday, Aug. 19 at 6 p.m. at Raccoon River Valley Trail by Pedal-In. Tin Lizzie’s holds re-grand opening Aug. 9

New owners Ryan and Sara Wahlert celebrated the re-grand opening of Tin Lizzie’s in Casey on Aug. 9 along with Casey Service Club members and their family.

TV station blunders

“Shane, here is point for your thoughts on how TV reports don’t capture mistakes in copy (Pass me the Wite-out, Aug. 12, 2025). My wife is an avid ‘proof-reader’ more so than me and catches graphics mistakes in the newscasts of our local stations. After seeing several in one week, she wrote the station and pointed it out. The reply she received was, ‘Thanks and we should be better than that.’ ” – Mike Simpson

Panorama Men’s Golf League: Brewster has low score of 29

On Aug. 12 at Panorama West golf course, 32 men played in league. Paul Brewster had the low score of 29 and low putts. Bob Carr make the longest putt. Curt Anderson was closest to the pin while Jay Ganske was closest to the pin on hole 9 with second shot. The scramble was won by Paul Brewster, Josh Strehle, Steve Roe and Doug Hemphill.

Next week is the shootout with the tournament and the banquet on Aug. 26.

Panorama Women’s Golf League: Rickert is Group A low scratch winner; Wendl in Group B

A total of 50 women played in the Panorama Women’s Golf League on Aug. 12.  

In the A group, Coop Rickert was the low scratch winner with a 31. The second low scratch winner was Ai Dunlap with a 32. Coop Rickert was the HDCP winner with a 22. The special event was most putts, and Amy Ganske and Julie Rose were the winners with 23. Coop Rickerts had the fewest putts with 13.

In the B group, Linda Wendl was the low scratch winner with a 38. The second low scratch winner was Beth Muenzenberger with a 41. The HDCP winners were Jen Olsen and Linda Wendl with a 24. The special event was most putts, and Jen Hartwig and Cheryl Howard were the winners with 24. Colleen Arneson, Donna Brody and Joann Sandagehad the fewest putts with 17.
