Panorama girls cross country places 4th at Madrid meet

The Panorama girls cross country team competed at the Madrid cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 4. The No. 17-ranked Panthers placed fourth with 94 points. No. 1 Madrid won the meet with 36. Panorama’s best time came from Laicey Lutz, who placed 14th in 22:38. Olivia Beaudet also cracked the top 20, placing 20th in 23:51. The next meet is the Greene County Invite on Sept. 11.

Panorama boys cross country places 6th at Madrid meet

The Panorama boys cross country team placed sixth at the Madrid cross country meet on Thursday, Sept. 4, scoring 160 points. Ogden won the meet with 48. Bladyn Wearmouth had the Panthers’ best time, placing 22nd in 19:47. Panorama’s next meet is the  Greene County Invitational on Sept. 11.

Chargers face Southwest Valley tonight

The ACGC football team (1-0) travels to Southwest Valley (1-0) tonight, Friday, Sept. 5. Both teams came away victorious in week-one matchups. ACGC defeated Panorama, 40-0, behind Joe Crawford’s 153 rushing yards and two-touchdown performance. Southwest Valley defeated Red Oak, 14-3, with a solid ground attack. These teams have met each of the last two seasons with ACGC winning, 40-7 in 2024 and 41-0 in 2023. 

ACGC volleyball sweeps home quadrangular

The ACGC volleyball team (3-2) recovered from its 0-2 start to the season and won all three of its home matchups on Thursday, Sept. 4. 

ACGC defeated Exira-EHK (2-6), 2-0, winning the sets, 25-19 and 25-14. ACGC defeated Nodaway Valley (4-6), 2-1, losing the first set, 25-22, then winning the next two, 25-13 and 15-8. ACGC defeated West Central Valley (1-3), 2-0, winning the sets, 25-15 and 25-12. 

ACGC’s next game is at Des Moines Christian (3-7) on Tuesday, Sept. 9. Des Moines Christian has dominated this matchup, winning the last 12 in a row. ACGC’s last win against the Lions came in 2009. However, the Chargers are now on a three-game win streak, while DMC has lost its last five games. 

ACGC girls cross country earns 6th at DCG meet

The ACGC girls cross country team placed sixth with 185 points at the Dallas Center-Grimes cross country meet on Tuesday, Sept. 2. DCG won the meet. The Chargers’ best finish came from Brooklyn Schafer, who placed 41st in 26:06. Head Coach Rick Blake congratulated freshman runner Kennedy Reinhart on her first completed race. 

“Our athletes continue to work hard and put down solid early-season times,” Blake said. 

The next meet is in Ames at the Gilbert Invite on Sept. 11.
