Motorcycle accident near Dexter results in death of rider

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Matt Losee reported a motorcycle accident occurring on Aug. 27 at 7:05 p.m. on 310thStreet near Dexter. Brian Patrick Brady, 59, of Linden, was riding a 2005 Harley Davidson FLHT Classic eastbound on 310th Street when the motorcycle entered the north ditch and Brady was ejected, coming to rest facing west. Stuart EMS transported Brady to Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines with severe head trauma, and he later deceased. 

Cruze blows out tire, goes in ditch near Jamaica

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Blake Michelsen reported a single-vehicle accident occurring on Sept. 1 at 9:28 a.m. on 110th Street. Heather Linn Armstrong, 33, of Jamaica, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze LT eastbound and a tire blew out, causing the vehicle to go into the south ditch. Estimated damage to the Cruze is $10,000. Armstrong received a citation for no valid driver’s license. 

Tahoe overturns on Locust Avenue

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Matt Losee reported a single-vehicle accident occurring on Sept. 1 at 5:11 p.m. on Locust Avenue. Cameron Michael Mozingo, 16, of Guthrie Center, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet K1500 Tahoe southbound on Locust Avenue (a level B road) and lost control, overcorrecting the vehicle and hitting a tree stump. The vehicle overturned and rolled into the east ditch. Five passengers were minors, and all were listed as injured in the report. Estimated damage to the Tahoe is $10,000. Mozingo received a citation for reckless driving. 

Minivan collides with cow on White Pole Road

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Jason Gray reported a van vs. cow accident occurring on Aug. 29 at 8:55 p.m. on White Pole Road. Louis Hentry Schafer, 79, of New Providence, was driving a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country minivan westbound on White Pole Road near the intersection with Grant Avenue and struck a calf (cow) on the front driver side of the vehicle and came to rest on the side of the road. Damage to the minivan is estimated at $8,000. 

Peterbilt turns over on Talon Avenue

Guthrie County Deputy Sheriff Jeremy Bennett reported a single-vehicle accident occurring on Aug. 28 at 12:59 p.m. on Talon Avenue. Charles Leroy Dailey, 43, of Clarinda, was driving a 2014 Peterbilt tractor/semi-trailer and was making a left-hand turn from While Pole Road on to Talon Avenue. Dailey was driving too fast for the intersection and lost control, rolling onto the passenger side and coming to rest on Talon Avenue. Estimated damage to the Peterbilt is $40,000. Dailey was uninjured.
