Rochholz places 4th in 3,000-meter run at state championships

Panorama’s Kylie Rochholz was the first of Panorama’s state qualifiers to compete at the 2A IHSAA state track and field championships on Thursday, May 2. Rochholz ran the 3,000-meter run in 10:23.39 to place fourth. Laura Streck of Van Meter won the event in 9:48.31. Rochholz will hit the track again on Saturday, May 23, to compete in the 1,500-meter run.

ACGC boys start season with dominant 10-0 win over Griswold

The ACGC boys baseball team (1-0) season started at home on Wednesday, May 20 against Griswold (0-2). ACGC took three innings to get going, but once they did, they did not slow down. The three runs scored in the third, four in the fourth and three more in the fifth gave ACGC all it needed to win. Hitting stats were not available, but starting pitcher Blaize Dorsey pitched all five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine batters.

Charger girls 4×200-meter, Petersen to compete at state meet

The ACGC girls track and field team qualified for two events at the IGHSAU state track and field meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23. The girls 4×200-meter relay team of Meranda Gruber, Savannah Akers, Cadence Petersen and Nora Langgaard qualified for state while setting the school record in the event at 1:50.34. Petersen qualified for the 400-meter hurdles. The 4×200-meter relay team finished in the 15th with a time of 1:49.16. Edgewood-Colesburg won the event in 1:44.43. Petersen won her heat in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07. She would place eighth overall. Ada Hansen of CAM, Anita won the event in 1:01.28. Charger boys compete at state meet

The ACGC boys track and field team has been competing at the IHSAA 1A State Track and Field Championships, starting Thursday, May 21 and through Saturday, May 23. The boys have competed in four events so far. Today’s and tomorrow’s events can be watched at www.iahsaa.org/watch/.

Preston Kent placed 12th in the 3,200-meter run in 9:55.84. Ryan Martens placed 22nd in the long jump at 18-11.50. Jack Sheeder placed 16th in the shot put, tossing 45-10.00. In the 4×110-meter shuttled hurdle prelims, the team of Thomas Skram, Morgun Nolte, Collin Stringham and Brexton Schneider placed sixth in 1:01.37. Schneider competes in 110-meter hurdles at 10:40 a.m.
