OUTDATED? Linda Hummel, P-L senior, has made a high school career of memorable trips to proms. Two years ago, Hummel rolled into the prom at Spirit Lake High School with her date in a 4620 John Deere diesel tractor. Their unusual arrival resulted in statewide publicity. Saturday,

Boyd Burnham of Linden, maybe trying to “‘outdate” the competition from northwest Iowa, surprised Hummel with a ride to the P-L prom in a 1920 Model T borrowed from a friend, Frank Comes of West Des Moines. Burnham had Hummel meet him after he unloaded the car in Panora. The pair then chugged to the school in low gear, drawing second glances along the way.
