The Panorama baseball team (0-1) started its season at home on Wednesday, May 20 against Martensdale-St Marys (3-0). Individual stats were not available for Panorama as of press time. The Panthers return to the diamond today, Friday, May 22 at Ankeny Christian (2-0). Panorama beat A-C last season, 7-5.

The Panorama girls golf team competed in the Class 1A Region 3 final on Wednesday, May 20 in New Sharon. Panorama shot a 428 to place seventh. Mount Ayr won the meet, shooting a 371. Mount Ayr’s Jaylee Shaffer was the medalist, shooting a 70. The best Panorama score came from Anabel Pudenz, who placed 26th, shooting a 103. Other Panorama scores were Alyssa Stanley, 105, Miranda Laabs, 109, Ava Thompson, 111, Calista Knudsen, 113 and Maci Bauer, 117.

The No. 15 Panorama girls soccer team (13-3) won at home against Underwood (6-8) on Tuesday, May 19. The IGHSAU also released its most recent soccer rankings, where Panorama appeared at No. 15, becoming ranked for the first time this season. Against Underwood, Morgan Crees scored three goals with the fourth goal coming from Jacey Glade. The team’s one assist was by Nerea Gimeno-Perez.
The next test for the girls is in the postseason against Riverside (7-6) at home on Thursday, May 28. Panorama defeated Riverside earlier this season, 5-0. If the girls win, they will face the winner of Tri-Center (10-5-2) vs. the winner of Harlan Community (8-6) and Red Oak (0-17).

Panorama’s Reed Draper jumped 21-11 in the long jump at the 2A IHSAA state track and field championships on Thursday, May 21. Brecken Ritzert of Pella Christian outjumped Draper for the gold. Still to compete for Panorama is Syler Shaffer in the 400-meter hurdles tonight at 6 p.m. The event can be watched at www.iahsaa.org/watch/.

The ACGC boys baseball team (1-0) season started at home on Wednesday, May 20 against Griswold (0-2). ACGC took three innings to get going, but once they did, they did not slow down. The three runs scored in the third, four in the fourth and three more in the fifth gave ACGC all it needed to win. Hitting stats were not available, but starting pitcher Blaize Dorsey pitched all five innings, allowing just two hits and striking out nine batters.

The ACGC girls track and field team qualified for two events at the IGHSAU state track and field meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines from Thursday, May 21 to Saturday, May 23. The girls 4×200-meter relay team of Meranda Gruber, Savannah Akers, Cadence Petersen and Nora Langgaard qualified for state while setting the school record in the event at 1:50.34. Petersen qualified for the 400-meter hurdles. The 4×200-meter relay team finished in the 15th with a time of 1:49.16. Edgewood-Colesburg won the event in 1:44.43. Petersen won her heat in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:07. She would place eighth overall. Ada Hansen of CAM, Anita won the event in 1:01.28.
