The ACGC softball team (6-22) secured a much-needed home win over Coon Rapids-Bayard (7-10) on Friday, July 3. The win will help give the Chargers some momentum heading into the playoffs. ACGC did a majority of its damage in the second inning, scoring seven runs. ACGC piled on five more runs in the fourth inning to seal the win.

Jerzee Huss and Kailee Kautzky led the offense with two RBIs each. Kailee Kautzky had a multi-hit game, going 2/3 with a single and a double. Other RBIs came from Caydence Boals, Karli Kautzky, Slaybaugh, Kiera Boals and Megan Underwood. The girls stole six basses. Megan Underwood pitched all four innings, striking out three batters and earning the win.

The ACGC softball team (5-22) lost at home to AHSTW (10-14) on Thursday, July 2. The Charger offense was producing well, matching AHSTW for hits with 11. Caydence Boals was stellar on offense, going 4/4 with two doubles, two singles and three RBIs. Jerzee Huss and Kailee Kautzky both had multi-hit games — Huss with two singles and an RBI, and Kautzky with two doubles. Olivia Mahaffey made her one hit count, knocking it over the fence for a homerun. Tessa Slaybaugh had one RBI.

Huss and Megan Underwood split time on the mound. Huss pitched four innings, striking out one batter. Underwood pitched the other three innings, also striking out one batter.

The ACGC baseball team (10-14) reached double-digit wins and advanced past the first round of substate by winning at IKM-Manning (6-19) on Friday, July 2. The game was knotted up, 1-1, at the end of the first inning, but ACGC scored seven runs between the third and fifth innings for a comfortable victory.

The highlight of the night was a solo homerun by Colton Clark, who went 2/4 with a single to add on to his dinger. RBIs were spread out one apiece between Thomas Skram, William Skram, Blaize Dorsey, Cal Clark and Sayer Bireline-Huss. ACGC stole seven bases in the win. Blaize Dorsey pitched four and two-thirds innings with seven strikeouts to earn the win. Cal Clark pitched the remaining two and one-third innings with four strikeouts.

The next game for the Chargers is round two of the substate 8 bracket at Coon Rapids-Bayard (25-3) tonight, Tuesday, July 7. ACGC lost to CR-B earlier this season, 14-4.

On June 30, a total of 51 women participated.

In the A Group, Emily Spradling was the low scratch winner with 32. The second low scratch winner was Carla Fitzgerald with 35. The HDCP winners were Carla Fitzgerald, Tami Kuta and Emily Spradling with 25. The special event was most 4s, won by Peg Carr, Karen Eby and Tami Kuta with six. Lynn Breitbach, Kathy DeLucca, Kelli Koeningsberg and Tami Kuta had the fewest putts with 16.

In the B Group, the low scratch winner was Rhoda Williams with 41. The second low scratch winner was Lori VanKirk with 42. The HDCP winner was Rhoda Williams with 26. The special event was most 4s, won by Rhoda Williams. Deb Schumacher and Audrey Sunner had the fewest putts with 19.

Kathy DeLucca had one birdie and one chip-in. There were 33 pars.

A total of 35 golfers participated in the Tuesday night men’s league on June 30 at Lake Panorama West Golf Gourse.Kevin Koenigsberg and Ryan Smith shot 2 over par 29 for low honors. Curtis Twigg was closest to the pin and only needed 13 putts. Denny Williams made the longest putt. The team of Ben Carr, Jerry Armstrong, Rich Schumacher and Tim Richert won the scramble with a score of 5 under par.

The Panorama baseball team (3-19) kept things close but was ultimately swept at Interstate-35 (23-9) on Tuesday, June 30. Panorama had one hit in game one via Jaxon Vogel. The Panthers used three pitchers, Mason Meinecke, Vogel and Mason Cates. Panorama had one hit in game two, an Adrian Leone single. Samuel Scanlan had an RBI. Brody Steenblock and Braden Bahrenfuss each had one strikeout.

The next game for the boys is at Woodward-Granger (11-12) tonight, Friday, July 3, in the first round of substate. Panorama nearly secured a win against W-G earlier this season in a 6-5 loss. The team also lost 19-6 earlier this season.
