The ACGC football team (2-0) won at home over Southwest Valley on Friday, Sept. 4. ACGC scored 20 unanswered points and kept the Timberwolves shut out until SW-V scored in the fourth quarter. Ryder Cline hit paydirt on the ground twice for ACGC on eight carries for 53 yards. Morgun Nolte was the leading rusher with 13 carries for 88 yards and one TD.

Cline was also stellar on defense, leading the team with 8.5 total tackles. Will Skram had an INT.

The next game for the Chargers is at Nodaway Valley (0-2) on Friday, Sept. 11. ACGC won this contest last year, 54-0.

The Panorama boys and girls cross country teams were to compete in the Madrid Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Sept. 4, but the event was cancelled due to the heat. The next meet for the girls and boys is at home on Sept. 17.

The Panorama football team (0-2) makes the trip to South Hamilton (0-1) tonight, Friday, Sept. 4. Panorama’s lone win last season came against the Hawks, 28-22.

The Panorama volleyball team (2-2) won one and lost one in its home triangular on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The Panthers defeated West Central Valley (0-3), 3-1, and lost to ACGC (4-0), 3-0.

Panorama defeated WCV in four sets, most of them being close contests. Hailey Hellman led the way in assists with 17. Nerea Gimeno-Perez hit double digits with 10. Ashley Crees led in kills with 13. Gracie Recker was a close second with nine. Recker was also solid at the net defensively with two blocks. Lexi Galvan was flying around on defense with a team-high 30 digs. No other Panther had more than eight. Gimeno-Perez also led in aces with six. Crees was a close second with five.

The Panthers were unable to win a set against a solid ACGC side. Hellman led in assists again, this time with seven. Gimeno-Perez was second with four. Crees led in kills with five. Five Panthers had two kills, spreading out the offense. Danica Isom and Recker were solid at the net with five blocks apiece. Crees had two blocks. Galvan was all over the floor with 16 digs. Hellman also led in aces with two, going 11/11 on serves.

The next game for the Panthers is on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at Martensdale-St. Marys (2-2). Panorama won the first matchup between these teams last season, 3-2.

The ACGC girls cross country team competed at the Woodward-Granger Invite on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Collins-Maxwell won the meet with 24 points. ACGC did not place due to its number of runners but still performed well. Times are faster because of a shortened course due to the heat. Vivian Crawford placed third in 14:18, and teammate Camdyn Coffman placed fifth in 15:09. Lillie Lauzon finished just outside the top 10, placing 12^th in 17:21. Brooklyn Schafer placed 15^th in 17:53.

The next meet for the girls is Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Gilbert Cross Country Meet at Iowa State University. ACGC competes against 20 other teams.

Two meets, two wins for ACGC’s Preston Kent after the Woodward-Granger Invitational on Tuesday, Sept.1. As a team, ACGC placed third with 90 points. Perry won the meet with 37. Due to the heat, varsity ran a shorter distance, resulting in faster times. Kent placed first in 12:10, 20 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. The second-best time Charger time was by Jonny Kading, who placed ninth in 13:30.

The next meet for the Chargers is Thursday, Sept. 10 at the Gilbert Cross Country Meet at Iowa State University. ACGC competes against 20 other teams.
