Panther girls are champions at Creston Tournament

The Panorama girls soccer team (11-1) won both of its games at the Creston Tournament on Saturday, May 9. Panorama defeated Riverside (6-5), 5-0, and against Creston (4-5-2), 10-0.

Against Riverside, Morgan Crees and Kailee Kautzky each scored two goals. Nerea Gimeno-Perez had two assists. Morgan Crees and Karli Kautzky had one assist each. Meredith Arganbright had five saves.

Against Creston, Morgan Crees continued to find the back of the net, scoring seven goals. The other three goals were scored by Ines Gimeno-Perez, Kailee Kautzky and Nerea Gimeno-Perez. Morgan Crees also added two assists. Ines Gimeno-Perez and Kailee Kautzky had one assist each. Arganbright and Jamie Fronapfel split time in goal, both producing one save. Morgan Crees is now up to 40 goals on the season, second most in the entire state.

Charger girls golf place 3rd at Coon Rapids-Bayard triangular

The ACGC girls golf team shot a 227 at the CR-B Triangular on Monday, May 11. ACGC was a mere three strokes behind second-place Glidden-Ralston. CR-B won the meet, shooting a 209. Scores for ACGC were not available as of press time. The next meet for the girls is the Panorama Invite, today, Tuesday, May 12. ACGC golfs against Des Moines Christian, North Polk, Panorama and Woodward-Granger.

ACGC boys golf at sectionals on Wednesday

The ACGC boys golf team competes at the 1A IHSAA Sectional meet at CAM on Wednesday, May 13. ACGC needs to place within the top three to qualify for districts against Audubon, CAM, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Earlham, Exira-EHK and IKM-Menning.

Charger girls to compete at State Qualifying Meet on Thursday

The girls next meet is the Class 1A State Qualifying Meet, Region 1A at Audubon on Thursday, May 14. ACGC will compete for spots at state against Ar-We-Va, Audubon, Boyer Valley, CAM, Coon Rapids-Bayard, Exira-EHK, Glidden-Ralston, IKM-Manning, Logan-Magnolia, Newell-Fonda, Paton-Churdan, Storm Lake St. Mary’s and West Bend-Mallard.

Anderson shoots 30 for low score

More than 35 golfers participated in the Tuesday night men’s league on May 5. Bruce Bailey had the longest putt. Bill Pierce had the fewest putts with 14. John Worth was closest to the pin. Curt Anderson shot a 30 for the lowest score. Paul Brewster, Curtis Twigg, Dave Minturn and Kevin McClatchey won the scramble with one under par 26.

Charger boys finish 3rd at WCAC meet; Schneider and shuttle hurdle are conference champions

The ACGC boys track and field team scored 87.5 points at the West Central Activities Conference meet at home on Tuesday, May 5. Des Moines Christian won the meet, scoring 151.5 points. ACGC won two events at the meet. One was by Brexton Schneider in the 110-meter hurdles. His teammate, Morgun Nolte, placed second. The boys also won the 4×110-meter shuttle hurdle with Schneider, Nolte, Collin Stringham and Thomas Skram.

Silver medals won at the meet were by Talon Noland in the 400-meter run and the sprint medley relay team of Joe Crawford, Schneider, Skram and Kaden Sorensen. Bronze medals were won by Preston Kent in the 3,200-meter run and the 4×200-meter relay team of Crawford, Skram, Sorensen and Ryan Martens.
