The Panorama softball team (9-17) lost both games in its doubleheader against No. 2 I-35 (23-7) on Tuesday, June 30. Hits in game one were by Lexi Galvan, Andrea Knode, Bridgete White and Peyton Walker. Walker, White and Knode had multi-hit games, with White having two RBIs. Panorama used three pitchers in game one: Galvan, with two strikeouts, Andrea Knode, with one strikeout, and Aleah Knode with two strikeouts. Panorama had one hit in game two, a single by Emma Walker.

Results from Thursday’s contest against Glidden-Ralston (15-9) will be in our Tuesday, July 7 edition.

The ACGC softball team (5-20) was swept at No. 5 Van Meter (26-6) on Tuesday, June 30. ACGC lost the first game, 17-1, and the follow-up, 12-0. The lone RBI for the Chargers was from Karli Kautzky. Caydence Boals went 2/3 with two singles. In game two, Caydence and Kiera Boals had one hit apiece.

We will have AHSTW results in our Tuesday, July 7 edition. The next game for the girls is tonight, Friday, July 3 at home against Coon Rapids-Bayard (7-9). The last time these teams played was in 2023, a 6-1 win for CR-B.

The ACGC baseball team (9-14) split its away doubleheader against Van Meter (18-12) on Tuesday, June 30. ACGC rallied late in game one for the win, while Van Meter did so in game two.

Game one, 6-5 W

ACGC scored four runs to start the game off, taking an early and comfortable lead. Van Meter scored one run in the bottom of the first inning and two more in the second inning to bring the score to 4-3. It remained that way until the sixth inning, when Van Meter scored two runs to take a 5-4 lead. With the pressure on, ACGC scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 6-5 lead to win the game. With only three hits, the Chargers used their base-running speed, five walks, two hit-by-pitches and three errors on Van Meter’s behalf to their advantage. Thomas Skram had two hits, both singles. Cal Clark had the other hit, a single. RBIs were from Blaize Dorsey, Clark, and Sayer Bireline-Huss. Thomas Skram pitched three innings, striking out five batters. Bireline-Huss pitched four innings, striking out six and securing the win.

Game two, 6-5 L

ACGC led early in game two as well, scoring three runs to start the game. Van Meter scored two in response to make it 3-2 after one inning. ACGC scored again in the third inning to go up 4-2, but Van Meter punched back with three runs of its own, taking a 5-4 lead. ACGC tied it back up, 5-5 in the fourth. Van Meter took the lead again and for the final time with one run in the sixth inning. Five hits, five singles for ACGC in this game, spread between William Skram, Cal Clark, Chase Slaybaugh, Roger Ochoa and Colton Clark. Cal Clark had two RBIs. Bryce Benda pitched two and two third innings with two strikeouts. Slaybaugh pitched three and one third innings with three strikeouts.

The next games for the Chargers are a doubleheader at IKM-Manning (6-18), tonight, Friday, July 3. ACGC has not played IKM-Manning since 2013, a 4-1 win for the Wolves.

The Panorama baseball team (3-17) lost at home to Ogden (12-15) on Monday, June 29. Ogden scored six runs in the first inning to put the game out of the Panthers reach. Nolan Sheehy pitched four innings, striking out five batters. Mason Meinecke pitched one inning, striking out two. The boys travel to I-35 (21-9) tonight, Tuesday, June 30 for a doubleheader. Panorama split last season’s doubleheader against the Roadrunners, winning 7-3 and losing 10-0.

The Panorama softball team (9-16) lost at home to Ogden (19-14) on Monday, June 29. Ogden led for the entirety of the game despite some solid Panorama offense. Individual statistics were not available as of press time. The next games for the girls are in a doubleheader tonight at I-35 against No. 2 Interstate 35 (22-7). I-35 won both games last season, 15-3 and 11-3.

The ACGC softball team (5-19) fell late at Madrid (19-13) on Monday, June 29. ACGC held a one-run lead until the sixth inning, when Madrid scored all four of its runs. Individual statistics were not available as of press time. The next games for the girls are tonight, Tuesday, June 30 in a doubleheader at No. 5 Van Meter (25-6). Van Meter won both games against the Chargers last season, 10-0 and 21-0.
