Panorama boys golf places 4th at WCAC meet, Galvan medals

The Panorama boys golf team hosted the West Central Activities Conference meet on Tuesday, May 5. The Panthers placed fourth, shooting 338. Des Moines Christian won the meet, shooting 309. Panorama’s Brayden Galvan was the medalist for the meet, shooting 74, two strokes better than Des Moines Christian’s Braden Shontz.

Other Panorama scores from the conference meet were 83 by Bryce Dawes, 89 by Cole Carstens, 92 by Jaxson Stauffer, 94 by Mason Cates and 97 by Casey Young. 

The boys next meet is the Kuemper Invitational on Saturday, May 9. The boys travel to face Carroll, Clarinda, Denison-Schleswig, Earlham, Hamburg, Harlan Community, Humboldt, Kuemper Catholic, OABCIG, Spencer, Spirit Lake and Webster City.

Panorama boys place 3rd at Panorama Coed Invite, win 3 events

The Panorama boys track and field team scored 99 points at the Panorama Coed Invite on Thursday, May 7. Earlham won the meet scoring 132 points. Panorama finished the night with three golds: Corbin Deardorf in the 400-meter run, Syler Shaffer in the 400-meter hurdles and Reed Draper in the long jump.

Silver medals were won by the distance medley relay team Draper, Cruz Crandall, Hunter Kempf and Bladyn Wearmouth. Bronze medals were earned by Shaffer in the 100-meter dash, Shaffer in the 110-meter hurdles, Crandall in the long jump and Cristian Monrroy-Nunez in the shot put.

The Panthers next meet is the Merritt-Charger Invitational at ACGC. The boys compete against ACGC, Audubon, CAM, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Treynor, Underwood, Van Meter and West Central Valley.

Panther boys finish 10th at WCAC meet, Draper is champion in long jump

The Panorama boys track and field team traveled to ACGC for the West Central Activities Conference meet on Tuesday, May 5. The boys scored 35 points to place 10th. Des Moines Christian won the meet with 151.5 points. Reed Draper took home gold in the long jump for the Panthers.

Panorama secured one other medal at the meet by Syler Shaffer, who earned silver in the 400-meter hurdles. The next-best placement by a Panther athlete was also Shaffer, who placed fifth in the 110-meter hurdles.

Panther girls finish 8th at Panorama Coed Invite

The Panorama girls track and field team scored 59 points at the Panorama Coed Invite on Thursday, May 9. Van Meter won the meet with 132 points. Panorama earned bronze medals in the three events: Laicey Lutz in the 800-meter run, the sprint medley relay team of Ella Carico, Jacey Glade, Leah Carstens and Kylie Rochholz, and the distance medley relay team of Glade, Malia Jacobsen, Laicey Lutz and Mary Fett.

The girls placed fourth in several events, narrowly missing out on adding some bronze medals. Rochholz in the 400-meter run, Olivia Beaudet in the 400-meter hurdles, Beaudet in the 3,000-meter run, the 4×400-meter relay team of Rochholz, Fett, Lutz and Beaudet and the 4×800-meter relay team of Fett, Nella Rivas, Corrie Knapp and Lutz all placed fourth.

The girls next meet is the Class 2A Region 9 State Qualifying meet at Treynor on Thursday, May 14. Panorama will be vying for spots at state against Clarinda, Kuemper Catholic, Missouri Valley, MVAOCOU, Nodaway Valley, Red Oak, Shenandoah, Treynor, Tri-Center, Underwood and West Central Valley.

Panorama girls place 8th at WCAC meet

The Panorama girls track and field team scored 32 points at ACGC for the West Central Activities Conference Meet on Tuesday, May 5. Van Meter won the meet scoring 159 points. The Panthers took home three individual medals, all bronze. Kylie Rochholz in the 1,500- and 3,000-meter runs, and Emma Walker in the discus. Both Walker and Rochholz nearly earned another bronze each, with Rochholz placing fourth in the 800-meter run, and Walker placing fourth in the shot put.
