Panther girls fall to Pleasantville, 60-48

The Panorama girls basketball team (2-6) dropped its first game since returning from break to Pleasantville (5-3) on Monday, Jan. 5. Morgan Crees led the Panthers in scoring with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. Ashley Crees also reached double figures, scoring 12. Ines Gimeno-Perez led the team in steals with three.

The girls next game is on Thursday, Jan. 8, at Creston (3-5).

Matthewson named Assistant Coach for Iowa Shrine Bowl South team

Cody Matthewson, head coach of the ACGC football team, was recently announced as an assistant coach for the Iowa Shrine Bowl South team. The Iowa Shrine Bowl is a yearly All-Star game played since 1972 that recognizes senior athletes and coaches from across the state. Funds from the game benefit Shriners Children’s.

ACGC boys basketball faces Des Moines Christian tonight

The ACGC boys basketball team (2-4) returns to the court since returning from winter break to face Des Moines Christian (4-2) away from home on Tuesday, Jan. 6. ACGC went into the midseason break with a win over Panorama. Des Moines Christian also went into the break in winning fashion, defeating Pleasantville. These teams played once last season with ACGC winning, 63-50.

ACGC wrestling competes at Tri-Center Invitational on Saturday

The ACGC boys wrestling squad returns to the mat for the Tri-Center Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 10. ACGC will compete against Bellevue East, East Mills, Harlan Community, Hinton, Kuemper Catholic, Lawton-Bronson, Missouri Valley, Nodaway Valley, Southwest Valley, St. Albert, Treynor, Tri-Center, West Monona, Westwood and Woodbine.

No. 8 ACGC girls basketball travels to No. 3 Des Moines Christian tonight

The No. 8 ACGC girls basketball team (7-0) face its toughest test of the season at No. 3 Des Moines Christian (8-2) tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 6. Both squads have dominated their competition up to this point, with ACGC holding a 27.3 average point differential, and Des Moines Christian at 14.6. Des Moines Christian’s two losses this season have been against Ankeny and Dallas Center-Grimes. One of ACGC’s two losses from last season was against Des Moines Christian, which won 46-33.

With both schools on winter break, the athletes take a break, too. Here is when the Panthers and Chargers return to their courts and mats following the holiday break:
