The ACGC girls basketball team (9-3) lost at home to Earlham (10-3) on Friday, Jan. 16. This was a back-and-forth game from the opening tip. ACGC led 12-5 by the end of the first quarter. Earlham answered back in the second quarter, bringing the game within one point with ACGC leading 21-20 heading into halftime. Earlham then took a one-point lead, 33-32, into the final quarter. The Cardinals stepped on the gas, outscoring the Chargers 19-8 in the fourth to steal the win away from ACGC.

The ACGC boys wrestling team placed fourth at the West Central Activities Conference Meet at Panorama on Saturday, Jan. 17. Woodward-Granger won the meet with 228.5 points. Ryder Cline won the championship at 150 over Josh Winey of Earlham by fall. ACGC also had two wrestlers place second in Carter Richter at 215 and Chase Slaybaugh at 120.

The Chargers next meet is a triangular at Madrid, tonight, Tuesday, Jan. 20. ACGC will have duals against Griswold and Woodward-Granger.

Spearheaded by a strong first quarter, the Panorama boys basketball team (1-10) entered the win column for the first time this year, cinching its away game against Nodaway Valley (1-11) on Thursday, Jan. 15. Panorama outscored N-V 26-13 in the first quarter. Fairly even second and third quarters saw the Panthers enter the final stanza up 54-38. N-V produced a strong fourth quarter, outscoring Panorama 21-10, but that was not enough to complete the comeback.

Panorama will look to build off of this momentum at home against Van Meter (6-5) on Friday, Jan. 16. Panorama lost its one game against Van Meter last season, 79-55.

The Panorama girls basketball team (3-9) gave No. 14 Nodaway Valley (12-1) a scare in its away game on Thursday, Jan. 15. Panorama ended the first quarter up 13-12. N-V took the lead heading into halftime, 28-20. Panorama narrowed the margin heading into the fourth quarter down 39-33. A strong final quarter from N-V saw them pull away. Morgan Crees led all Panthers in scoring with 17 points and in rebounds with seven. Ines Gimeno-Perez had nine points, and Nerea Gimeno-Perez had eight points, adding six rebounds and leading in assists with three.

The Panthers have a quick return to the court, hosting Van Meter (6-5) tonight, Friday, Jan. 16. Van Meter won the lone contest between these two last season, 53-37.

The Panorama girls wrestling team had a successful showing at the Interstate 35 quadrangular on Tuesday, Jan. 13. Panorama defeated host I-35, 36-18, and won via tiebreaker against West Central Valley, 30-30. The Panthers would lose to Pleasantville in a close contest, 30-24.

Panorama hosts the West Central Activities Conference Wrestling Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 17. Conference foes competing at the meet will be Earlham, Interstate 35, Ogden, Pleasantville, West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.

The Panorama boys wrestling team traveled to East Union on Thursday, Jan. 15 for a quadrangular meet. The Panthers won one dual against the host East Union, 37-36. Panorama lost its other two duals against Southwest Valley, 46-14, and against Martensdale-St. Marys, 54-15.

Panorama hosts the West Central Activities Conference Tournament this Saturday, Jan. 17. Conference woes entering Panorama’s doors will be ACGC, Earlham, Interstate 35, Ogden, Pleasantville, Van Meter, West Central Valley and Woodward-Granger.
