The No. 3 ACGC football team (5-0) improved its undefeated record, defeating Madrid (3-2) on Friday, Sept. 26. Not only was this a solid win for the Chargers’ resume, it also avenges the team’s quarterfinal loss to the Tigers from 2023. ACGC won the game without completing a pass while rushing for more than 300 yards.
Joe Crawford has been the team’s best weapon on offense so far this year. He was effective in this game, too, with 10 carries for 68 yards and one TD, but Brexton Schneider stole the show. Schneider rushed for 198 yards on 24 carries and scored three touchdowns. On defense, Charlie Christensen was causing problems for Madrid all night long. He had a game-high 10.5 tackles and nine solo tackles. Jack Sheeder led with three and a half tackles for loss. Crawford, normally dominant on offense, made his presence known on defense, recovering one fumble and intercepting a pass. Schneider recovered one fumble, which he ran back for a score. Ryder Cline also recovered two fumbles.
The Chargers look to extend their undefeated streak to six games when they host Central Decatur (2-3) on Friday, Oct. 3. The teams have not played each other ACGC’s win in 2020, 43-7.
