Chargers place 3rd at WCAC quadrangular

The ACGC girls golf team shot a 237 to place third at the WCAC quadrangular at 5 by 80 Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, April 29. Des Moines Christian won the meet shooting a 171. Des Moines Christian also had the best individual performance, coming from Courtney Latham who shot a 40. ACGC’s best round came from Rylee Robson who shot a 54. The girls next meet is the West Central Activities Conference meet, hosted by Woodward-Granger at Woodward Golf Club on Monday, May 5.

ACGC places 3rd at WCAC quad

The ACGC boys golf team shot a 180 to place third at a WCAC quadrangular meet at 5 by 80 Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, April 29. Des Moines Christian won the meet shooting 147. Des Moines Christian’s Braden Shontz had the best individual score of the day, shooting a 35. ACGC’s best round came from Casey Young who shot a 42.

“I’m very pleased with our consistent scores. I really feel we are improving with solid contact, straighter shots and our short game is under better control. Each player is consistently reaching their average. Their course play is facing less challenges but our scores are not getting lower yet.  Our first step was to get consistent and less chaotic,” Head Coach Lori McGivney said.

The boys next meet is the West Central Activities Conference Meet, hosted by Panorama at Lake Panorama National Golf Course on Tuesday, May 6.

Chargers earn 3rd place at Gonzales/Parrish Invitational

The ACGC girls track and field team hosted the Gonzales/Parrish Invitational on Thursday, May 1. ACGC scored 121 points at the event. Greene County won the meet with 176. Ava Campbell in the 800-meter run and the 1,500-meter run; the distance medley relay team; Cadence Petersen in the 400-meter hurdles, won gold. Campbell’s time in the 1,500-meter run of 4:47.82 set a school record. The 4×400-meter relay team of Petersen, Lillie Lauzon, Schafer and Campbell broke the school record in the event that was set on Tuesday, April 29. The 4×100-meter relay team, the 4×400-meter relay team, the 4×800-meter relay team and Petersen in the high jump won silver. The 800-meter sprint medley relay team, Emmarae Ellis in the 3,000-meter run and Caydence Boals in the shot put won bronze. The girls next meet is at Des Moines Christian on Tuesday, May 6 for the West Central Activities Conference meet.

Chargers place 6th at Bob Clark Relays, set two meet records, one school record

The ACGC girls track and field team scored 64 points at the Bob Clark Relays in Audubon on Tuesday, April 29. The team earned two gold medals at the event, both of which came with meet record times, both involving Ava Campbell. Campbell set the 800-meter run record, and the team of Nora Langgaard, Brooklyn Schafer, Cadence Petersen and Campbell set the distance medley record. Petersen won the team’s lone silver medal in the 400-meter hurdles. Meranda Gruber in the 100-meter dash and Petersen in the high jump earned bronze medals. Emmarae Ellis in the 3,000-meter run and the 4×200-meter and 4×400-meter relay teams just missed out on bronze medals. Despite missing out on a medal, the 4×400-meter relay team of Savannah Akers, Campbell, Lillie Lauzon and Langgaard set a school record in 4:25.64.

ACGC place 2nd at Gonzales/Parrish Invitational

The ACGC boys track and field team scored 129 points at its home meet, the Gonzales/Parrish Invitational on Thursday, May 1. Treynor won the meet with 140. Gold medals were won by Eli Madsen in the 400-meter dash, the 800-meter sprint medley relay team, Tate Fever in the 400-meter hurdles, and Preston Kent in the 3,200-meter run. Silver medals were earned by ACGC’s 4×100-meter relay team, Kent in the 1,600-meter run, Brexton Schneider in the 110-meter hurdles, the 4×110-meter shuttler hurdle relay team, and Mike Fuller in the shot put and discus. Fever won bronze in the 110-meter hurdles. The Chargers have placed first or second as a team at their last four events and will aim to do the same on Tuesday, May 6 at the West Central Activities Conference Meet, hosted by Des Moines Christian.
