On Aug. 25 at Panorama West Golf Course, 34 players participated in the league tournament and awards banquet. The flight winners were Trent Crawmer, Jeff Muench, Ben Carr, Dave Minturn, Ted Ericson, Tim O’Brien, Tim Rickert, Mike Moore and Doug Hemphill. The season winner was Trent Crawmer, with Rryan Smith in second place and Kevin Koenigsberg in third place. Jay Merryman and Bill Eby have retired after leading the league for 10 years. Next year, Jerry Armstrong and Mike Moore will be managing the league.

The Panorama boys cross country team competed in its first event of the season on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Southeast Valley Invite. The boys placed 13^th with 333 points. Fort Dodge won the meet with 49. The best Panther time came from the feet of Bennett Allen, who placed 37^th in 20:23.

Other Panorama finishes were Adrian Leone, 65^th in 21:45; Graysen Shaffer, 98^th in 23:55; Braden Bahrenfuss, 111^th in 24:59; Sam Hansen, 116^th in 25:34; and Caden Ratcliff, 117^th in 25:35.

The next meet for the boys is the Madrid Invite on Thursday, Sept. 3. Panorama will run against BGM, Boone, Colo-Nesco, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Perry, Woodward Academy and Woodward-Granger.

The Panorama girls cross country team had its first race of the season on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Southeast Valley Invitational. Kylie Rochholz returned after last season ended with injuries to win the first event of the Panther season, finishing in 19:24, a full 30 seconds faster than the second-place runner. Panorama placed third at the meet with 85 points. Madrid won the meet with 38.

Other Panorama placements were Laicey Lutz, 14^th in 22:52; Olivia Beaudet, 18^th in 23:16; Nella Rivas, 28^th in 24:42; Corrie Knapp, 41^st in 25:54; Avery Allen, 67^th in 28:36; and Alyssa Stanley, 72^nd in 30:22.

The next meet for the girls is the Madrid Invite on Thursday, Sept. 3. Panorama will compete against BGM, Boone, Colo-Nesco, Earlham, Madrid, Ogden, Perry, Woodward Academy and Woodward-Granger.

The Panorama football team officially kicks its season off against nearby rival ACGC at home tonight, Friday, Aug. 28. Panorama’s last game against Southwest Valley was officially a scrimmage. The Panthers will take some positives away from that game with solid performances from Reed Draper, who had seven receptions for 121 yards and three scores, and Cole Carstens with 11 tackles.

The Panorama volleyball team faced its first competitive action of the season on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at a triangular meet at Van Meter. Panorama lost its first game to No. 15 Van Meter (3-0), but bounced back with a win against Interstate 35 (0-1).

Vs. No. 15 Van Meter, 9-25, 12-25, 19-25

Panorama was unlucky to start its season off against a ranked opponent but still pulled some positives. Nerea Gimeno-Perez led in assists with seven. Hailey Hellman had the second most with six. Kills were spread throughout with Ashley Crees leading with five. Leah Carstens and Jessica Randol were next highest with three apiece. Ashley Crees led in blocks with three. Gracie Recker had one. Lexi Galvan led in digs with 10. Hannah Dishman led the team in aces with two. Gimeno-Perez went 9/9 serving.

Vs. Interstate 35, 25-15, 21-25, 25-15, 25-12

The Panthers’ fortune turned around against I-35. Assists were mainly shared between Hellman and Gimeno-Perez again. Hellman led with 15; Gimeno-Perez had 13. Crees led in kills with 14. The next closest was Randol with five. Randol also led in blocks with two. Leah Carstens, Crees, Ruth Fett and Danica Isom all had one block apiece. Galvan led the way in digs with 14. Dishman hit double-digits with 10. Gimeno-Perez had eight aces, going 24/27 serving. Dishman was close behind with six aces.

The next games for the girls are in a home triangular against West Central Valley (0-1) and ACGC (2-0) on Sept. 1.
