The ACGC girls cross country team competed at its first meet of the season at the Southeast Valley Invite on Thursday, Aug. 27. The girls did not have enough runners to place at the meet. Madrid won the meet with 28 points. Camdyn Coffman had the best ACGC time, finishing 12^th in 22:46. Her time was also the third best among all freshmen.

Other ACGC finishes were Cadence Petersen, 29^th in 24:47; Lillie Lauzon, 33^rd in 25:21 and Brooklyn Schafer, 44^th in 26:03.

The next meet for the girls is the Woodward-Granger Cross Country Meet on Thursday, Sept. 1. ACGC races against Baxter, CAM, Clarke Community, Collins-Maxwell, Des Moines North, Perry, Saydel and Woodward-Granger.

The ACGC boys cross country team had its first meet of the season at the Southeast Valley Invite on Thursday, Aug. 27. Preston Kent led the Chargers, and the entire field, finishing first in 17:24, a full 12 seconds ahead of the second-place runner. As a team, ACGC placed ninth with 226 points. Fort Dodge won the meet with 49.

Other ACGC finishes were: Jonny Kading, 41^st in 20:34; Jameson Pfrang, 64^th in 21:38; Bryce Benda, 68^th in 22:01; Carver Johnston, 72^nd in 22:11; Ryne Noland, 73^rd in 22:14; Meyer Chance, 79^th in 22:45; Cameron Mozingo, 83^rd in 23:03; Leo Mendoza, 91^st in 23:32; Dayton Crawley, 93^rd in 23:36; Adam Brown, 118^th in 25:53; and Tai Riordan, 124^thin 26:25.

The next meet for the boys is at Woodward-Granger on Tuesday, Sept. 1. ACGC will run against Baxter, CAM, Clarke Community, Collins-Maxwell, Perry, Saydel and Woodward-Granger.

The ACGC football team returns to the gridiron for the first time this season at Panorama (0-1) tonight, Friday, Aug. 28. ACGC is led by a new head coach, Will Shull, for the first time in eight seasons after the departure of Cody Matthewson. It will be his and the Chargers’ first test under new leadership.

The ACGC volleyball team (2-0) started its season off with a pair of wins at Martensdale-St Marys on Tuesday, Aug. 25. ACGC defeated both M-SM (0-1) and Earlham (0-1), 3-0.

Vs. Earlham, 25-13, 25-15, 25-17

ACGC won in straight sets against Earlham. Kailee Kautzky led the way in assists with 22. Stella Largent was on the end of the majority of them, leading the way with 16 kills. Blair Brown contributed nine kills as well. Kautzky, Meranda Gruber and Olivia Mahaffey had one block each. Digs were split fairly evenly throughout the team with Ilana Baumert leading with six. Brown and Gruber had five apiece. Baumert also led in aces with four and successful serves, going 18/18.

Vs. M-SM, 25-9, 25-9, 25-8

It was more of the same in game two. Kautzky again led in assists, this time with 24. Largent led in kills, this time with 17. Brown was next closest with five, and Nora Langaard was behind her with four. Brown and Langaard also had one block apiece. Baumert led in digs with nine. Brown was a close second with seven. Kautzky led the way in aces with five. She and Baumert both went 15/15 on serves.

The next game for the girls is Tuesday, Sept. 1 at Panorama for a triangular against the Panthers (1-1) and West Central Valley (0-1).
