ACGC sends 4 athletes to Drake Relays

The participants of the 2024 Drake Relays were recently announced, and four Chargers will be on their way to Des Moines to compete against the other best track and field athletes in the state. ACGC qualified for the 4×100-meter relay, consisting of Joe Crawford, Lance Bunde, Anthony Solorzano and Eli Madsen. Bunde also qualified for the high jump.

Panorama fifth at home meet

A windy day made play difficult for the Panorama girls golf squad. The team hosted four other schools on Monday, April 22. The Panthers’ scored a 262. First-place Des Moines Christian scored 204. This was the Panthers first time competing at home this season on the challenging course.

Head Coach Melissa Hochstetler kept the spirits high after the meet.

“All of the girls competing for Panorama are first year golfers, and they are doing really well,” Hochstetler said.

Panthers win Hal Rossow Invite against 8 other schools

On Saturday, April 20, the Panorama boys golf squad shot a team score of 321 at Lake Panorama National Golf Course to take home the victory. Webster City was closest to the Panthers in second with a score of 329. Evan Powell had the best 18-hole low of anyone on the course that day, shooting a 74.

The Charger girls track and field team competed on Thursday, April 18 in the West Central Valley invite, scoring 50 points on the way to their seventh-place finish.

Ava Campbell had two medal-worthy performances, earning gold in 800-meter run and silver in the 1500-meter run. Becca Littler received a silver medal for her toss in the shot put. As a relay team, ACGC had a bronze-medal effort in the 4×200.

ACGC’s boys track and field squad earned another top finish, this time on Thursday, April 18 at the West Central Valley invite with 114 points. They beat out Panorama, which finished in second with 114.

The Chargers’ relay team dominated the entire evening, earning gold in the 4×100, 200, 400, 800, and 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay. As individuals, Eli Madsen earned silver in the 200-meter dash. Gavin Sloss also earned a silver medal in the 800-meter run. Andrew Mahaffey earned gold in the 1600-meter run. In the hurdle events, Treyton Schneider ran his way to a silver in the 110-meter, and Tate Fever bronze in the 400-meter. Lance Bunde once again took home a gold-medal for his leap in the high jump, while Payton Jacobe earned gold as well for his shot-put toss.
