The ACGC baseball team (5-8) defeated Panorama (2-12) at home on Monday, June 15. ACGC was leading 8-1 heading into the final inning, thinking they had an easy win in the books. But, a late Panorama flurry of six runs in the seventh gave the Chargers a scare.

Colton Clark led the team in RBIs with two. Thomas Skram, William Skram and Blaize Dorsey all had one RBI. Thomas Skram with two doubles and Chase Slaybaugh with two singles had multi-hit performances. Cal Clark spent the majority of the game on the mound, striking out eight batters in six innings to earn the win. Chase Slaybaugh and Bryce Benda split the final inning.

ACGC travels to face Ogden (9-9) today, Tuesday, June 16. Ogden has historically had the upper hand on ACGC and won the contest earlier this season, 5-2. ACGC did pick up a win over Ogden last season, 13-6.

The ACGC softball team (2-11) lost both games in a home doubleheader against No. 2 I-35 (11-3) on Thursday, June 11. ACGC scored all three of their runs in game one in the first inning before the I-35 charger. Trinity Calhoun had two RBI double. Caydence Boals had a sacrifice RBI to contribute. Jerzee Huss struck out one batter in three innings of work.

In game two, the score was much closer. ACGC scored one run in the sixth and one run in the seventh to stop the shutout. Huss and Tessa Slaybaugh had multi-hit performances, both with two singles. Megan Underwood had the team’s lone RBI. Underwood pitched all seven innings.

The next game for the Chargers is at Perry (0-12) tonight, Friday, June 12.

The Panorama baseball team (2-9) secured back-to-back wins this week with an away win against Ogden (5-9) on Tuesday, June 9. Panorama scored one run in the first and another run in the second to go up, 2-0. Ogden tried to rally late with a run in the sixth, but Panorama held them off for the win.

Panorama had eight hits, all singles, with two coming from Mason Cates, who went 2/3. RBIs were contributed by Cruz Crandall and Brody Steenblock. Panorama was disciplined at the plate, securing nine walks, spread out between nine batters. Nolan Sheehy was lights out on the mound, pitching six innings, striking out seven and only allowing three hits to earn the win. Crandall pitched the other inning.

Panorama will host a doubleheader against Van Meter (5-6) tonight, Friday, June 12. Van Meter won the doubleheader between these two last season, both 10-0 results.

The Panorama softball team (4-7) lost in extra innings at Ogden (8-10) on Tuesday, June 9. The game was tied 3-3 heading into the seventh inning. The game went into the eighth with Ogden scoring one run for the walk off victory.

“This team of ours did a great job tonight finding their identity and showing what kind of team they want to be. They made great plays and poured every bit of energy and focus into tonight and came up just sort of a win. The whole team from the dugout to the players on the field showed what type of softball family they are. I am so proud and lucky to get to coach this group and seeing where this season takes us from here,” Head Coach Ismael Galvan said.

Lexi Galvan and Emma Walker had multi-hit games, both going 2/4. RBIs were tallied by Elah Molloy and Andrea Knode. Galvan and Knode split time on the mound, each striking out one batter.

The girls home doubleheader against No. 5 Van Meter (9-3) was postponed from yesterday and will be played tonight, Friday, June 12. Van Meter swept the season series last year, winning both games, 17-1 and 11-0.

The ACGC softball team (2-9) lost at home to WCAC foe Madrid (9-2) on Tuesday, June 9. ACGC had two hits in this game via Jerzee Huss and Trinity Calhoun singles but still managed to get three runs on the board via walks and good base running. RBIs went to Huss and Olivia Mahaffey. Huss spent three innings on the mound, striking out one batter. Megan Underwood pitched the other four innings, striking out one batter.

The ACGC baseball team (4-8) lost both games in a home doubleheader against I-35 (12-6) on Thursday, June 11. ACGC’s lone RBI in game one came from Bryce Benda. Benda and Cal Clark split time on the mound in game one with Clark striking out five batters and Benda striking out three.

Will Skram managed two hits in game two, both singles, going 2/2. Joseph Fagan had the team’s only RBI. ACGC used three pitchers in the game, Fagan, Chase Slaybaugh and Colton Clark, with Slaybaugh getting the majority of mound time at three innings.

The next game for the Chargers is at home against Panorama (2-9) on Monday, June 15. ACGC secured a 9-7 win over the Panthers earlier this season.
