ACGC girls finish fifth at 1A state qualifier

On Thursday, May 9, the ACGC girls track and field team traveled to Earlham to compete in the 1A state qualifier. The Chargers totaled 67 points on the day. Host Earlham won the meet with 112 points.

Those who finished in first place at the meet gained automatic qualification to the state meet. Ava Campbell will be heading to Des Moines later this month for her first-place finishes in the 800- and 1500-meter runs. The distance medley team finished first as well.

Other ACGC athletes can still join Campbell and the distance medley squad when the final results are available on IHSAA’s website, www.iahsaa.org.

According to the IHSAA, “In Class 1A, the top place winner in each event plus the next fourteen best performances statewide from qualifying meet place winners will advance to the state meet. If there are ties, the highest qualifying meet place winner (1st – 8th) will be the qualifier.”

Panthers win 2A sectional at I-35

At the 2A sectional meet in the Panorama district, the Panther boys golf squad shot its way to a victory on Wednesday, May 8 at Deer Run Golf Club. Competing against seven other schools, Panorama shot a 313. Far behind in second place was Des Moines Christian with 331.

Panorama had the three lowest scores on the day. Parker Cary topped the leaderboard with a 77 followed by Trey Boettcher and Evan Powell, who both shot 78.

Joining the Panthers in the Panorama district was Treynor with a 306 at Quail Run Golf Course, and Pella Christian with a 328 at Bos Landen Golf Course.

Panthers finish third at 1A state qualifier

On Tuesday, May 9, the Panorama girls track and field team competed in Earlham with hopes of qualifying for the state meet at Drake Stadium May 16-18. As a team, the Panthers finished in third place with 97 points. Host Earlham won the meet with 112. To little surprise, Jaidyn Sellers was an automatic qualifier for several events. Thanks to four first-place finishes, Sellers will head to state to compete in the high jump, 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes. When the final results from across the state are posted, Sellers will find out who will be joining her on the blue track in Des Moines later this month.

Once they’re available, results will be posted on IHSAA’s website, www.iahsaa.org.

Panorama places third at 1A state qualifier

The Panorama boys track and field team competed against 13 other 1A schools to qualify for the state meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines May 16-18. As a team, Panorama scored 68 points. ACGC won the event by a comfortable amount with 161 points.

Panorama had one automatic qualifier on the day, Braylon Dawes for his sprint in the 400-meter dash. The other potential qualifiers from Panorama will have to wait until the rest of the races from around the state are finalized to know if they will be joining Dawes later this May.

Once they’re available, results will be posted on IHSAA’s website, www.iahsaa.org.

Panthers lose against Tri-Center, 2-1

The Panorama girls soccer team (12-2) lost its second game of the season to Tri-Center (10-4) on Tuesday, May 7. That makes it back-to-back losses for the Panthers after starting the season 12-0. Panorama went into half time up 1-0, but two second-half goals from the Trojans was all it took to snatch the game away. Morgan Crees added to her eye-popping goal tally (42) on the season with Panorama’s lone goal.
